Carmen de los Chapiteles wedding photography: the Alhambra, the people, the day

A historic Carmen and a view many couples travel to Granada to find. I have photographed weddings at Carmen de los Chapiteles, and I know that the best photographs here come from planning the route and the light while leaving the celebration free to happen.

What makes this Carmen feel different

Granada's tourism office describes Carmen de los Chapiteles as a house built between the 15th and 16th centuries, set between gardens and arranged around a patio. You feel that character as you move between rooms, gardens and views. For a wedding, those transitions can be part of the story: getting ready, arriving, meeting your guests and stepping into the ceremony.

At one wedding I photographed here, one partner got ready at the Carmen while the other arrived from a hotel. It worked because the timing had been considered in advance. If you want to get ready on site, ask which rooms are available and from what time. If you plan to arrive dressed, allow for the journey and for everyone to move comfortably through the property.

How I use the Alhambra view

The Alhambra can appear in your photographs without becoming a task you have to perform all day. I photograph the view as part of the place, then turn back to the things you will actually remember: the first reactions, the ceremony, the embraces, the conversation and the noise of your friends.

If you want portraits together with the view, we find a brief moment when the light is kind to you. I give you enough guidance to feel comfortable, especially if you are shy in front of a camera. Then you go back to your people. That is the kind of rhythm I try to protect.

Planning from abroad: what I would check first

Start with the route through the day. Where will you get ready? Which garden or room is planned for the ceremony? Where will guests go afterwards? Ask the venue about stairs and accessible routes for anyone who needs them, plus its current wet-weather plan. A plan that works for your guests usually gives the photographs a calmer pace too.

Next, look at the schedule with the light in mind. The Alhambra is visible for much of the day; the feeling of the photographs changes as the sun moves. Share your date, ceremony time and draft timeline with me, and I can advise on the photographic timing. I am your photographer, not your venue or wedding planner, so final logistics and availability should be confirmed directly with the team running your day.

Frequently asked questions

Can we both get ready at Carmen de los Chapiteles?

Ask the venue which rooms it can make available for your date and when you may enter. If one of you is preparing elsewhere, build the journey into the schedule.

How much time will portraits take?

I prefer a short, well-timed window rather than a long absence from your guests. We can decide together which photographs matter to you and make room for them without losing the celebration.

What if we are not used to being photographed?

That is ordinary. Most of the day I work as an observer. When we make portraits, I suggest simple movement and let you settle into it; you do not need to memorise poses.

Can we organise everything with you in English before travelling?

Yes. We can meet online, discuss the people and moments you care about, and review the photographic parts of your timeline before the wedding.

What should we ask about in our first enquiry?

Send me your date or preferred season, whether the venue is booked, your approximate guest count and what you hope the day will feel like. I will answer personally about availability and photography.
