A wedding with the Alhambra in view. A day that still feels like yours.
I'm Fran Ortiz, a wedding photographer based in Granada. I photograph the people, gestures and atmosphere that make a celebration your own, with space for the city to be part of the story.

Planning your Granada wedding from abroad?
You can start with a feeling before you have a fixed plan: a terrace facing the Alhambra, your closest people around one table, and time to enjoy them. I can help you think through the photographic side of the day before you commit to a schedule: where the light falls, when portraits will feel effortless, and how to leave enough breathing room for the celebration.
I work with couples who live in Granada and with couples arriving from elsewhere. We can talk online in English about what matters to you, even if your date or venue is still open. My role is to photograph your wedding and advise on the light and timing; venue bookings and event planning remain with you and your chosen team.
How to choose a wedding venue with Alhambra views
Granada's carmenes and terraces can give you that unforgettable view, especially around the Albaicín. Visit or ask for photographs of the exact spaces you would use, not only the rooftop view. Check where your ceremony, drinks and dinner will actually take place; whether guests can move comfortably between them; and what happens if wind, rain or summer heat changes the plan.
Light matters too. A view that looks beautiful at midday may photograph very differently at sunset or after dark. Ask the venue about shade, indoor alternatives and evening lighting. With a draft timetable, I can suggest when a short portrait walk or a quiet moment together would fit, so the best views do not cost you the best part of your party.
Real wedding inspiration: Carmen Mirador de Aixa
At a wedding I photographed at Carmen Mirador de Aixa, the Alhambra became part of the setting without taking attention away from the people. The terrace, flowers, embraces and changing light all belonged in the story. It is a useful example of how I balance the place with what happens between you and your guests.

How I photograph your day
I look for the real moments: the nervous laugh before the ceremony, a hand reaching for another, your friends seeing you for the first time. I stay attentive and discreet while the day unfolds. When portraits need a little direction, I give it gently and clearly; you do not have to know how to pose. We can make photographs with the Alhambra in the background in a short, relaxed window and get you back to your guests.
Questions couples ask me
Do we need to know our venue and date before getting in touch?
No. Tell me the season you have in mind and what kind of celebration you imagine. If you have a venue shortlist, I can share photographic considerations about light and timings before you choose.
Can you help us plan from another country?
Yes. We can speak in English online, review your draft timeline and discuss how the ceremony, portraits and evening light will work together. You will know how I approach the day before we meet in Granada.
We feel awkward in front of a camera. Will that show?
That is completely normal. Most of the day I photograph what is happening around you. For portraits, I offer simple prompts and enough space to be yourselves; there is no performance to get right.
What if the weather changes?
Ask each venue about its covered spaces and rain plan. I can adapt the photographs to the available light and find a short opening for outdoor pictures if the weather allows it.
Can we take wedding photos inside the Alhambra?
Photographs inside the monument may require advance permission from its management. A venue with an Alhambra view is a different option: it lets the monument be part of the backdrop while you celebrate in your chosen space. Check current venue and monument rules before making plans.
How do we ask about availability and pricing?
Send your date, venue or shortlist, approximate guest count and the moments you most want remembered. I will reply personally with availability and a proposal that fits your plans.
Let's make space for the day you actually want
Tell me where you are in your plans. A fixed date is welcome; a first idea is welcome too.
